Halloween is one of the best times of the year. It is when adults get to be kids and kids get to be anything they want! Make sure your Halloween is fun AND safe. Each year, there are many Halloween safety tips, which are stressed by local law enforcement agencies, and for a good reasons. Following their advice makes sure everyone has a great night, stays safe and has fun all at the same time. Don’t forget to think about “Fido’s” safety, too!
Always go out in pairs. Groups are better!
Place a temporary bracelet on a young child marked with their home phone number.
Tape glowsticks to the back of children’s costumes
Use glowstick bracelets
Substitute glowsticks in place of candles in your indoor jack-o-lanterns
Give children small flashlights to use
Map out a route, including timings, and stick to it!
Carry cellular phones or pagers
Check all candy coming into the house
Head to the mall or school function rather than strange neighborhoods
Try to stay around a neighborhood where you know the people.
Light up your doorstep well and remove items that may cause children to trip or fall.
Keep your dogs well inside the house, away from the door, children and decorations.
