For years my only winter sport was limited to sledding, but this year I opened up my doors of opportunity into the wild winter sports offered here in the Weed area!
I went SNOWBOARDING!!
Not sure of what to expect the feelings of excitement were tamed by the humble fact I knew I was going to fall down all day. I received a hand me down board and boots but was lacking the bindings that attach the boots firmly to the board. So I went into Sportsmen’s Den to get not only bindings, but a little word of encouragement from the knowledgeable staff. They were very helpful in hooking me up with used equipment that matched my already used equiptment, and met my price range, which wasn’t much since I wasn’t sure if I was even going to like snowboarding.
The Sportsmen’s Den staff were all excited for me and my husband to be getting out in the early spring fresh snow that was falling that day. I asked the staff if there was a company that makes padded bottoms for first time boarders, they laughed and said, “yes, there is.”
My husband and I had a great time and we were well equipped for my first time on a snowboard. The snow was deep and fluffy, which padded my falls with a fluffy splash for each face-plant, or bottom-plant.
There is one thing I learned from the day, Snowboarders have great leg muscles!
