November 5, 2009

5 Nov

Lynn TeuscherJEDI Advocates Smart Tax Planning “Lowering your tax burden legally is not a crime, but paying more in taxes than you need to is,” states JEDI instructor Paj Kane who is passionate about helping business owners with their taxes. JEDI’s annual Tax Planning for Small Business Workshop will take place on Nov. 18th and 19th this year at the College of the Siskiyous, Weed Campus in the Board Room from 6:00 – 9:00pm. Pre-registration is required. On the first night, Lynn Teuscher, CPA of Aiello, Goodrich, and Teuscher, An Accountancy Corporation will explain all the strategies that you can use to make your tax liability melt away. “Fall is a really good time for a business to take a look at what its current financial position is and to review what can be done to keep down its tax burden for the year, “advises Lynn. “The tax code is a complex maze. We can steer you toward valuable tax breaks.” Teuscher will also share tips and information on such topics as: strategic deductions for your business, tax-favored retirement plans, planning ahead for profitability, and tax laws that affect small businesses. MORE On night two of the workshop, participants will gain a better understanding of the forms that must be completed by self-employed persons. The Schedule C – Profit and Loss from Business will be explained in such a way that business owners will know how to prepare for a seamless, stress-free tax appointment. Instructor, Paj Kane will help participants understand the complexities of the Schedule C. “New business owners often ask me about making estimated tax payments,” explains Paj. “This and many other important features of the business return will be demystified.” Topics to be covered will include the Expenses for Business Use of the Home, depreciating fixed assets and a complete list of all the allowable business deductions. This workshop is free to income eligible JEDI clients and $35 for one or both nights to all other community members.
