Brenda Woods (our Chamber of Commerce President, and local artist) and Nikki Lee Hill (a local artist and photographer) have been creating a portrait of our town, Weed, through photographs and interviews over the last 12 months.
The show highlights the differences and similarities of the town’s people. Here in Weed, we are a bit of a melting pot with different beliefs, and interests, careers and hobbies making us a unique community. Brenda and Nikki have captured the beauty in each of us by telling our stories and showing our faces. The “Wildflowers of Weed” show has all of the town anxious to read each others stories, some of which we’ve heard before, and to have a glance into each other’s lives, the old and the new.
The reception will be Tuesday June 30th, 2009 from 5:30pm-8pm at the College of the Siskiyous Library Lobby here in Weed. To get directions please contact the college at (530)938-5555
The reception will feature live music from “The Shavers and all Their Folking Instruments”. This couple plays old time mountain music with their own spin on it, their instruments include dulcimer, mandolin, guitar, fiddle and the banjo (played by the one and only Billy Shaver). Billy represented Northern California in the Grange Hall statewide talent show with his banjo talents, he’s awesome!
So come on in to Weed this week and meet and greet the entire town!!
